The weekly blessing

Manna — ₦5,000 given every Friday

Every week, one group of DELSU students enters a fair, transparent draw. One student wins. No entry fee. No hidden conditions. No favourites.

Full explanation

How Manna works

The cohort rotation

DELSU has many faculties and many entry sessions. We rotate through them so that every student gets their turn eventually. Each week, one faculty and one entry session is active. If your faculty and session match, you are eligible to enter that week's draw.

The rotation is managed entirely by our server. You cannot predict which cohort is next by looking at your profile — academic details are locked when you register, and the rotation proceeds independently. This is deliberate: it keeps the process fair and prevents gaming.

Eligibility requirements

To enter a Manna draw, you must:

  • Have a verified myDelsu account (email must be confirmed)
  • Have completed your student profile — matric number, faculty, course, entry mode
  • Have signed the Manna covenant
  • Have added your WhatsApp number and joined our channel
  • Have a verified bank account in your own name (we check this with your bank)
  • Belong to the active cohort for that week (same faculty + entry session)

The covenant

Every participant signs a short covenant: an honest commitment that you are a genuine DELSU student, that the bank account you add is truly yours, and that if you win, you will look for ways to be a blessing to others in your season.

This is not a legal document. It is a moral one. We ask for it because Manna is built on trust, and trust needs to be declared.

The draw

Every Friday at 18:00, our system runs the draw automatically. A random winner is selected from all confirmed entries for that week's cohort. The draw uses a random seed that is stored alongside the result — this means the outcome is auditable and cannot be manipulated after the fact.

The payout

Winning creates a pending review, not an instant payment. Our team checks every winner manually before any money moves:

  • We confirm the matric matches the registered faculty
  • We confirm the bank account name matches the registered name
  • We confirm the student has not won within the past 8 weeks
  • We manually verify current enrolment

Only after all checks pass does the transfer initiate. Winners usually receive their money within 24–48 hours of the Friday draw.

Extension students

If you are past your expected graduation session but still actively enrolled, you are still eligible. However, your win will require an additional enrolment confirmation step during payout review. We do not automatically exclude extension students.

Cooldown period

A student who has won and been paid within the past 8 weeks is excluded from the draw pool for that period. This gives others a fair chance.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Is this really free?

Yes. There is no entry fee, no premium tier, and no hidden charge. Manna is funded by voluntary sponsors.

How is Manna funded?

Through the generosity of individuals and organisations who believe in supporting students. See the Sponsor page if you would like to contribute.

Can I enter every week?

Only when your cohort is active. The rotation cycles through all faculties and sessions, so you will have multiple opportunities over your degree.

What if my name on my bank account is slightly different?

We use a tolerant matching system that accounts for middle names, initials, and name order. If there is a significant mismatch, your entry will go to manual review.

What happens if the winner fails the review?

A redraw is triggered and a new winner is selected from the remaining eligible entries.

Is this affiliated with Delta State University?

No. myDelsu is a student initiative. We are not affiliated with, funded by, or endorsed by Delta State University or its management.
